The Great Internet Disconnection of 2005!
And here is an animation describing what happend to our connection :
[Image: apcn2.gif]
The S8S segment of the line near Philipines suffered a failure on 3rd of April, knocking out one part of the "ring". This was okay as we could use the other main connection. Ships were already repairing that undersea cable when the second failure occurred on the S3 segment between China and Japan on the 7th of April, literally splitting the "ring" in half and thus seperating us, Singapore and Philipines from the main backbone internet line in Japan. My guess is they've managed to repair the S8S segment yesterday night and they would have S3 repaired, and hopefully running back at full speed, by the 20th depending on weather conditions.

I was watching The Ring 2 / Samara the day after the second failure.

Coincidence?
Yes, it was. A silly and unhelpful one at that. ^^;

May I ask what does this exactly means for the common Internet user, DJ?

On another note, this brings up something like: with all the effort of going "paperless" and "virtual" and all that shiznit... it's the physical problems that still bog it down.

The question one should ask: Who's responsibility is it to maintain that area's optic lines?

I kill you with chopsticks.
