Halloween 2010 - First event - DarkLurker - Thu Aug 26, 2010 07:01 AM

Hi fellow SG Furs,

Halloween is coming up in 2 more months time and for this year, I was thinking we can expand it a little...

The Night Safari is having its Halloween month celebrations again this year and will be larger than before, including Singapore Zoo components as well this year: http://www.halloweenhorrors.com.sg/index.html

It is held every Friday and Saturday night on the month of October till the actual Halloween night itself on 31st October. While it is very likely we'll have other plans for 31st October *cough cough wink wink*, it does mean that we should be able to pop by in costume, which is highly encouraged and even has a best dress up prize. Tongue

The thing is though, the event isn't cheap. It's $40 for first two weekends, then $45 for next two and finally $50 for the actual Halloween weekend. I was thinking of maybe organizing a meet to go down on either 16th or 23th (Saturday) to spice up their event a little. After all, given that it is a Zoo, they don't seem to have that many creepy non-human costumes out there. Winking

Also, I think the logistics for this event is going to be tricky. The Night Safari is very humid at night, rather warm and I can recall only a few places to duck in and suit up/change and if I'm not mistaken only a few places with half way decent air conditioning.

Let me know what you guys think, and who are interested and we can work out the details!

We're probably going to have to discuss about the logistics of this event. XD

With a little effort I might be able to swim myself to the island and join in Big smile. But need a confirmed meet up time and location.......

While the thing is very weather dependent, it is mostly outdoors after all, I'm mulling the idea of either these Saturdays. Friday will probably be a bit too much for us.

9th ($40) -> 2nd choice
16th ($45) -> My personal choice
23th ($45)

Any feedback from you guys?

Saturdays are a bit tough for me since I'll be in church in the early part of the evening, but I'll be free to join you folks after that (approximately 8pm).

Do bear in mind, however, that the Night Safari has a strict policy on no flash photography. If we are going to take photos, it has to be at specific checkpoints where lighting is better than darkness. Alternatively, we could do video, but the question of whether video cameras are permitted inside is up in the air.

Video cameras are totally permitted, but you'll have a super rough time trying to get some decent footage. I wasn't allowed to turn on my built-in video light. Luckily for some exhibits, there will be, or should be, enough lighting to take photos. You should consider bringing a tripod too.
