Finally, found some time today to do some cleaning up.

Additionally if there's any feedback about these changes, I'd like to hear it. You can request for additional forums as well and if there's enough demand we should be able to get it on AA.
As with the launch of the new dA Groups, AnthroAsia now has a spot in deviantArt!!
Although the page is quite barren now (Creative Director!! *pokes GT* ), please do indicate your participation/membership in the largest anthro/furry society in SEA if you have a dA page of your own
Those of you with FaceBook accounts can now join AnthroAsia's FaceBook group. Lets unite together on this social network to show the world that there is an anthropormorphic presence on the other side of the planet in the empty spot between Australia and Japan
And just in case, I have also reserved AnthroAsia on Twitter, should we ever need to announce stuff out fast.

Hi all,
This is just a friendly reminder to everyone and especially to those who just signed up recently. Please provide enough information (e-mail address, link to FurAffinity/DeviantArt profile) as well as fill up the "fursona species" box with a reasonable/sensable species name.
Any shady persons who have little or suspicious information in their profile might end up seeing themselves banned (for example that "davidsmith" user). This is a proactive stance against any possible spammers. However if you believe that you have been wrongly blocked from the forums, please contact me.

Being a student, an ex-student and now a student again means that my financial status is not always secure. Previous years of paying AnthroAsia's webhosting and domain fees by myself can be quite a burden, which is why I'm appealing to everyone who supports AA and would like to keep it afloat on the internet, please donate US$5 for our AnthroAsia hosting fund via PayPal. US$5 is the suggested amount since anywhere between 10-15 donors is enough to cover the fees for a year. You can however donate any amount you wish and your contributions will be recognised (unless you wish to be anonymous).
Please click on the button below to donate:
Disclaimer: AnthroAsia is not formally registered as an organisation and donations are not exempted from tax.
If I'm not mistaken, this cost of our webhosting this year will be RM324 (USD102) compared to RM254 (USD80) which we have been paying since two years ago. The entire AnthroAsia website only uses less than 20% allocated in our current hosting package. To eliminate any wastage of money, we're going to negotiate for custom hosting either with our current host or another one.
Because of that, starting today the forums will be fitted with advertisements on our forum index and also in between posts. Hopefully this will cushion the impact of rising webhosting costs somewhat. These ads will be displayed for the next few months or so, and any feedback is still welcomed.

A2Wiki upgrade
Due to our webhost not providing PHP5 until now, the A2Wiki was running on MediaWiki version 1.6.10 until it was upgraded to 1.11.1 recently. For comparison purposes Wikipedia is currently running on 1.13alpha whereas WikiFur is running on 1.12alpha. Both versions are still experimental unreleased versions of MediaWiki but 1.11.1 is a stable one released just a month ago.
Portal phaseout
The Drupal-powered AA portal has been up online since last year but since there is a lack of usage, the portal will be phased out and replaced with a version powered by MyBB. Everyone who has signed up for the old portal will receive an e-mail notification soon.

AnthroAsia has come a long way since our inception way back in September 2004, and gradually we have noticed that a good lot of members here can handle various kinds of discussions quite well. Stifling discussions was not our intention, so here are what we are going to do:
#1. Opening Mature Talk for all
So starting now onwards, the approval process for the Mature Talk section will be discontinued and all registered members will be able to view and post inside without any restrictions.
#2. Making an archive
To avoid the bumping of seriously old threads, there is also an archive beneath the Mature Talk section where old threads which have been left untouched since 2005 and 2006 reside. Every once in a while we will be archiving existing threads from Mature Talk when we feel that the thread has lived past its usefulness.
#3. Loosening old restrictions
Aside from the great forum reappearance, we will also be lifting topic restrictions that were once imposed on the Mature Section with immediate effect. If you want to participate in a discussion there, just keep it in a decent and civil manner. Our moderators will step in if anybody crosses the line.

Happy Chinese New Year!
To those who are currently enjoying your holidays celebrating with friends and relatives, and happily being on the receiving end of ang paus, here's wishing you all a happy, safe and prosperous Chinese New Year!
New themes
PixelBlue and MyBB Professional are two of our latest themes on the forums, with the former being our new default theme. I guess you can see my infatuation with the colour blue by now. Well, hope you all like it!
